EPP QAL finish

It's done! I have completed the last block of the EPPQAL Helen Stubbings at www.hugsnkisses.net

It has been a fun journey into the world of shapes and appliqué paper, well worth a go if you haven't already. However I still feel there is a place in my world for needle turn appliqué.

This week I was lucky enough to secure a place in a class with Wendy Williams whom the Stitching Post in Arrowtown was hosting.  A friend and I headed off to stay in our little abode and stitch to our hearts content,  Along with sunshine and stitching what more could a girl want?

Wendy Williams was a fabulous tutor and we had a lot of fun creating shapes and embellishing these ready to stitch onto a project.

Here are some of Wendy's quilts, we even got to see some new ones which I cannot show you as she hasn't released them yet.

I was so busy stitching and creating I just plain forgot to get photos of the quilts in full.

I did however photograph my work in progress.

This is a very addictive process and extremely portable so I can see this will go into the portable projects box ready to grab at a moments notice for those pickups and sports days and whenever I need to be occupied.

I also grabbed the odd pattern of Wendy's as you know girls you have to support these designers especially when they are so divine.

The photos do not do the patterns justice but as i need to run now and do lunches breakfast they will have to do until i show you my finished projects, haha hopefully they won't sit too long in the cupboard.

Stitching circles for life is beautiful

Circles galore for life is beautiful.....  Stitch the stitcheries and then make the four square blocks .... Then form the circles .... Appliqué them onto the four square blocks .... Cut out the back of the stitcheries to obtain the circles for the alternate blocks.... Then cut out the smaller circles for them to be appliqués in the corner of the joining blocks ... And we'll it's coming together..... Just another WIP

Appliqué circles on then cut out the back and you get....

These are then appliqués onto the alternate blocks 

Then cut out back as before and you have a smaller circle to be used for corners

Tidying up is dangerous.

Who has attempted to tidy their sewing space and then you find those projects forgotten about and you think I'll just finish that it won't take long and before you know it you have stopped tidying and started seeing .....

That was me myself and I today......

Left over triangles from my stars quilt easily became hexagons that will be joined together as random as I can ......

Then there is the project started for my loved one a number of years ago that had buttons sewn on and then the canvas stapling can start making it the perfect gift for my Valentine

A new year with possibilities galore......

A new year is here with the glorious possibility of endless projects new or perhaps those in the cupboard patiently waiting to be bought to life.....

As always I have the best of intentions to ... keep blog up to date ... complete at least 10 of those endless projects ...

But.... life does get in the way and sometimes you just have to go with the flow of what happens happens .....

Class scheduling is underway as I sit here in my studio at 6 am  (can't sleep thinking of those endless projects waiting my hand ...

I did think it was time to overhaul the blog... so yes I have started that  ...  but without waking the whole house in my pursuit of finding the elusive cellphone that has those much needed photos .. I will patiently wait and find it at a decent hour and then will load those photos before I post.

I have the best of intentions to get more machine quilting practice ...

I have been completing the EPP QAL with Helen Stubbings at www.hugsnkisses.net go on over and have a look at this.  It is using the Applique paper that can be washed to remove.  as an applique needleturn lover, I was not completely convinced of this process, however there is definitely a place for this for those that have little time do not love the needleturn process or are all thumbs when appliqueing.  I had a go and would not say I love it but it definitely will have a place in my quilting from now on.  those clamshell and applecores are a breeze with this paper..

Also on my radar is to get cracking on my love entwined.  I may just use that applique paper for this so I can get lots of preparation done.  I just can't decide if I want a messy looking zig zag or a more organised look.... hmmm

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year

Now the year is coming to an end I realise my year has been a whirl. 3 overseas trips and not much blogging has happened. I have been busy and thought I would see if I had some photos on my phone to blog before the year end.

We have had out Christmas get together for our Monday group and I can now show you all our gifts we swapped. We are all so lucky such a talented group.
